Female employee looking stressed

Why it’s relevant?

Team performance depends on colleagues feeling safe to be open about ideas, concerns and mistakes without fear of negative reactions. This is called psychological safety, and it depends on the behaviours of leaders and teammates – we often create a lack of safety through our unintentional actions, but can learn to optimise it through intentional action.

People in certain roles are at increased psychological risk because their work involves exposure to distressing situations or information. Often called trauma and vicarious trauma, these psychological threats pose very real and often unrecognised dangers to the person and their ability to perform at their best.

What you gain

  • Increased innovation, openness and creativity
  • Reduced conflict, grievances and attrition
  • Better focus and engagement and wellbeing

Why it matters to your business
