Cancellation & Late Attendance Policy

We ask that you please give us a minimum of 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

At Shore Psychology, we understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes circumstances arise that may prevent you from attending your scheduled appointment. We are committed to being compassionate and understanding with our clients, while also respecting the time and commitment of our healthcare professionals. In order to protect the income of our hardworking team, we charge a fee for late cancellations and appointments missed without sufficient notice.

In exceptional circumstances, your healthcare professional along with the Practice may agree to waive the normal fee for missed or late-cancelled appointments. However, because of the negative impact of missed appointments on the outcomes of therapy, this will not be offered on repeated occasions. Please speak to us if you believe there are exceptional reasons you could not give us sufficient notice of being unable to attend.

How to Cancel Your Appointment

To cancel or reschedule your appointment please email us at admin@shorepsychology.co.uk or phone us on 07512 020 029.

If you cannot reach us by telephone, please leave a voicemail stating your name and the date and time of the appointment you are cancelling.

Cancellation Fees

  • Cancellations with 48 or more hours’ notice: If you cancel or reschedule your appointment more than 48 hours in advance, no fee will be charged.
  • Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice: If an appointment is cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment cost will be charged.
  • Appointments missed without notice: if you fail to attend your appointment without prior notice, or contact us to cancel after the start time, the full appointment fee will be charged.

Late Attendance Policy

We suggest you arrive at least 5 minutes early, to allow you to be settled and ready to begin your appointment at the scheduled time.

If you attend your appointment late, you are entitled to the remainder of the scheduled session time. However, your healthcare professional may make a judgement that it would not be appropriate to use the session in the normal way if it would be clinically unsafe or ineffective to do so. For example, it would be inappropriate to discuss very distressing topics or attempt trauma processing with insufficient time to do so safely. Your healthcare professional will work with you to decide how best to use the available time.
