Dr Heather Rumney
Clinical Psychologist
I am an approachable and compassionate therapist with a desire to help clients feel safe enough to explore the difficulties that have brought them to therapy. I place great value in the therapeutic relationship, and communicate in a genuine and non-judgemental style. My practice is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based approaches, which I adapt to suit each clients’ specific needs. I have experience in tailoring therapeutic work for neurodivergent clients, ensuring that therapy feels accessible while remaining aligned with client’s goals.
I began my career working for nearly a decade as a support worker across a range of care and health settings. This experience shaped my understanding of mental health, and the importance of relational safety. I then trained as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology, working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in the NHS before completing my doctoral training in Clinical Psychology.
Alongside my work at Shore Psychology, I am a Clinical Psychologist in a specialist residential care and education setting, supporting young people with needs linked to developmental trauma and neurodiversity. While much of my experience has been with children, young people and the systems around them, I also work with adults and value supporting clients across the lifespan.
