Dr Stephanie Gray
Counselling Psychologist
“I am a compassionate and collaborative Counselling Psychologist, committed to creating a therapeutic space where people feel heard, understood, and empowered. I view therapy as a shared journey—an opportunity to make sense of your experiences, build on your strengths, and move toward meaningful change. I am especially passionate about neurodiverse-informed care and have a particular interest in supporting individuals with ADHD, helping them harness their unique strengths and navigate life with greater clarity and confidence”.
Psychology is, at its core, a science—grounded in research, theory, and evidence. But therapy is the art of its delivery. I believe in bringing these two elements together: using psychological knowledge as the foundation, and delivering it with empathy, creativity, and genuine human connection.
I understand how personal the process of seeking support can be, which is why I focus on building a safe, respectful relationship where challenges can be explored without judgement. My passion for therapy has grown through years of working across diverse mental health settings and witnessing the powerful transformation that occurs when people are met with warmth, respect, and evidence-based care.
I’ve had the privilege of working across NHS services, charitable organisations, and private settings —experiences that have shaped a deep and well-rounded understanding of mental health care. My areas of interest include trauma, low self-esteem and ADHD. I began my clinical career in psychiatric inpatient units, supporting individuals living with severe and enduring mental health challenges. From there, I moved into more community-based roles, delivering therapy in GP surgeries, primary schools, and local wellbeing projects across Lothian.
Currently, I am the Principal Psychologist in a specialist inpatient service for individuals with Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD) and provide therapy on a locum basis within the NHS. I’m excited to join Shore Psychology, drawn to its thoughtful, community-oriented ethos and commitment to making high-quality psychological support accessible and meaningful.
