Trauma Training Plus
Trauma-Informed Services at Shore Psychology
At Shore Psychology, we offer expert support, training, and consultancy to help organisations adopt Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP). Our approach helps create safe, trusting environments that reduce the risk of re-traumatisation while empowering both staff and service users.
Why Choose to adopt a Trauma-Informed Approach?
- Recognising the prevalence of trauma in the population and the impact it has on brain development. A high proportion of people you work with in your organisation are likely to have been impacted by trauma, with statistics showing two-thirds of children in Scotland face traumatic events like domestic violence or abuse.
- Promote recovery: TIP fosters resilience and growth for trauma survivors. It also recognises not everyone who experiences trauma will have trauma reactions.
- Support staff: Reduce burnout and improve wellbeing for teams working with trauma-affected individuals.
- Improve outcomes: Enhance service quality and organisational efficiency.
Dr Amy Homes
Amy has conducted training and consultancy on Trauma Informed Practice for the last 7 years for government, statutory and third sector organisations. With lived experience from her own trauma reaction, she is passionate about helping organisations develop to improve their accessibility and treatment of those who have experienced trauma.
Amy led the team responsible for the widely read Scottish Government publication, “Trauma Informed Practice: A toolkit.” Following this work, she co-led the pilot on peer support groups in Adult Social Care (the Improvement Service) as well as leading on the pathfinder project implementing TIP in two Substance Use services in Scotland (Scottish Government). She has continued developing a model of trauma training and consultancy, currently implementing TIP across 13 Substance Use Services in NHS Lothian as part of the implementation of Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards 10.
At Shore Psychology, we offer a range of trauma training programmes designed to meet the needs of professionals at every level. Our team is highly experienced in delivering training that aligns with the National Trauma Training Programme Knowledge and Skills Framework
