Dr Neelam Laxhman
“Clinical PsychologistI am a registered mental health nurse (RMN), working within the Neurodiversity team, to provide assessments and treatment. I come with a holistic approach to health, supporting people to manage their emotional and physical needs and I like to work in collaboration with clients, so they feel listened to, understood and an equal partner in their care.
“As a compassionate, inclusive, and person-centred clinical psychologist, I understand how difficult it can be for people to access therapy. I strive to create a safe space where individuals feel heard, valued, and supported. I approach my work with empathy and cultural humility, recognising and respecting each person’s unique challenges and experiences. By tailoring my interventions to meet my client’s specific needs, I aim to foster a collaborative relationship that empowers them to navigate their challenges with dignity and hope.I have worked with clients and patients from a wide range of backgrounds, and it is important to me to provide care that is warm, genuine and compassionate as well as helping clients identify their strengths and reach their goals”.“
I have over 10 years of experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges. In addition to my role at Shore Psychology, I work as a senior clinical psychologist in the NHS, providing community-based care for people with severe and enduring mental illnesses. My expertise spans specialist services, including trauma, psychosis, and bipolar disorder, enabling me to support clients facing complex and diverse mental health needs. specialist services.
I also have experience working with young people aged 13 and over, prioritising the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship to create a safe and collaborative space, where young people feel heard and supported. I’m particularly passionate in supporting young people online, offering greater accessibility to therapy in a secure and familiar environment that is tailored to their unique needs.I have a background specialising in mental health and addictions and have been involved in developing and shaping services to reduce barriers and promote care that is centred around the individual.
