Hannah Desmond
ADHD and AuDHD Coach
“I am a warm, approachable and collaborative ADHD & AuDHD Coach. I know what it is like to be technically capable and still struggle to do things in the way you want to. It can be very easy to turn that experience into a story about yourself: I’m lazy. I’m unreliable. I’m not trying hard enough. Why can’t I just do this? I want to help people move away from those explanations and understand what is actually happening. Sometimes the answer isn’t to try harder. It is to find a different way of doing things.
Having lived experience of AuDHD, I understand how easily these difficulties can become tied up with confidence and the way we see ourselves. My goal is to help clients understand what is getting in their way, find approaches that work for their brain, and build a way of doing things that feels sustainable and genuinely theirs. For me, coaching is about helping people understand themselves, find approaches that work for them, and realise that they don’t have to organise their lives around what other people think they should be able to do.
Clinical Experience
I have supported neurodivergent people across NHS, higher education and coaching settings, alongside earlier professional experience in technology.
As an Autism Keyworker in the NHS, I supported children, young people and their families. I also worked in NHS Talking Therapies, delivering low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy interventions.
Before moving into neurodiversity coaching, I worked as a software engineer. This gives me particular insight into the experiences of neurodivergent people in technical and professional environments, including the gap between being highly capable and finding the executive demands of work difficult.
I have also worked in student welfare within higher education, providing support tailored to university life.
