Working with our Charity Partner: The Multi-Cultural Family Base (MCFB)

Written on: 20 January 2025

We are delighted to have started work with one of our charity partners ‘The Multi Cultural Family Base’ (MCFB)

The MCFB have been operating in Edinburgh for over 25 years, helping vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people and families. A social work organisation, they focus on early intervention, helping children and young people deal with important transition points in their lives. MCFB is also a training hub for Social Work students on placement both nationally and internationally. The organisation helps deal with issues of identity loss, displacement and trauma. They have a key focus on diversity and anti-racism, working with families from a wide range of different communities, breaking stereotypes and challenging prejudices.

Our founder and director Dr Amy Homes has enjoyed spending time visiting MCFB, getting to know staff, and learning about the multiple projects they run and the clients they help. Shore Psychology CIC will be providing free consultancy work to MCFB, helping them further develop their services, train staff to be able to better identify and work with trauma reactions, as well as ensuring staff wellbeing is prioritised, considering the difficult and challenging work they do.

We can’t wait to continue developing this strong partnership working – thanks for agreeing to work with us MCFB!
